Report on 29th AGM, Onasadya & Cultural Programmes
The 29th Annual General Meeting of Varier Samajam, Mumbai, was held on Sunday, 22nd
September 2013 at Napoo Hall, Matunga. Elders Shri A V B Varier, Shri TV Ramachandran, Shri A R Warrier, Smt. Radha R Warrier and President Shri Kuttan Warrier lighted the Bhadradeepam inaugurating the day’s proceedings, followed by a Prayer by Shri Padman Warrier. Credit for a
beautiful Pookkalam goes to our youngsters Swati, Shreya and Mohit.
Vice President Shri Sekharankutty welcomed the gathering. Joint Secretary Mr. Ravi Warrier read out the condolence message and a two minutes
silence was observed to pray for the departed souls.Presidential speech by Shri Kuttan Warrier reminded about reaching another milestone next year i.e. 30th year of our Samajam activities. He expected all out efforts from all – young and old – to come forward and improve upon the activities with more vigour and purpose for allround benefit of one and all in the community.Secretary Shri Sunil Kutty read out the Minutes of 28th AGM and Treasurer Shri T Muraleedharan presented the Accounts for 2012-13. Secretary also read out the Working Report for the year gone by. Area representatives briefed about the activities being held in different parts of the extended suburbs. Shri T V Ramachandran spoke about World Confederation of Warriers. Shri A S Madhavan briefed about Warrier Foundation activities and scope for helping the needy.
The Meeting unanimously extended the term of the present Managing Committee, under the Presidentship of Shri Kuttan Warrier, by another
term of two years.
A sumptuous Onasadya was followed by cultural programmes in the afternoon. The variety programmes included: Bhajan, solo dances, group dances, kaikottikali, western dance, songs in Malayalam and Hindi, Kathakalipadams, etc.
Drawing competition was also held for young children. Shruti Warrier proved to be a perfect compere. Prizes were distributed to all these
Samajam’s Scholarships (including Devaki Memorial and TVM Warrier Memorial) were presented to students who excelled in SSC and HSC examinations held during March-April 2013.
