1. Prof. P.U. Krishna Warrier:

Famous Mathematician and astrologer. Professor of Mathematics at the N.S.S. College, Changanacherry in Kottayam District of Kerala. Popularly known as Jyothirganithacharyan. Well versed in both oriental and Western systems of astrology.

Born on 27th October 1908 at Eranjal in Kottayam, near the famous Eranjal Devi Temple. Grand nephew of Pandalam Krishna Warrier , son of famous teacher Govinda Warrier. Mother : Lakshmikkutty Amma. Educated at Kottayam Government School and C.M.S. College, Kottayam. Awarded scholarship from VII th standard onwards. Showed extra ordinary brillianace  in Mathematics. After graduating from Trivandrum Maharajas College worked as  tutor in Mathematics at C.M.S. College. Then did his M.Sc and joined N.S.S. College, Changanacherry, on the invitation of Sri Mannathu Padmanabhan. The B.Sc (Mathematics) course was just starting there. He had served for some time at the M.G.College, Trivandrum also in between. Retired from service in 1970.

Married Lakshmikkutty Amma of Vadakkedathu Warriam, Mariyappally. One daughter : Leelavathy, married to famous astrologer, Pandanattil P.R. Gopala Warrier. Sons :
Balakrishna Warrier, retired Professor of Physics and now engaged in astrological activities, following the footsteps of the father; Now settled in NangiarKulangara near Haripad. He is at present Official Astrologer, in charge of the State Government Official calender and the Devaswom Board Calender. Author of Anushthana Vijnana Kosam.
Venugopala Warrier, Assistant General Manager, B.S.N.L, Ernakulam; Now settled in Ernakulam.
Sreekumara Warrier, retired Manager, State Bank of Travancore; Now settled in Thiruvananthapuram.
Muraleedhara Varier, Professor of Physics, Calicut University, and
Gopalakrishna Warrier, Assistant Accounts Officer, N.T.P.C., Vindhya Nagar(M.P) Prof. Warrier passed away in 1995.

Since retirement he spent all his time in research in astrology and Panchanga Ganitham. He had been a member of the committee appointed by the Government to look into the defects in the existing system of calculations etc. in  astrological calculations. He was the main person instrumental in joining the Western and Oriental systems appropiately, giving a new dimension in astronomical calculations. After the passing away of his son in law, the famous astrologer Sri Pandanattil P.R. Gopala Warrier ,he started taking care of the Panchangam published by the Chandra Press. He had been contributing to the "This week for you" in the "Week"  as well as in the Malayala Manorama weeklies.

2. Vaidyaratnam P.S. Varier (1869 - 1944)
Sri P. S. Varier, born in Nanmanda, near Kozhikode; scion of an illustrious family of Kottakkal in the Malabar region of Kerala,  a renowned Ayurvedic scholar and academician, an able practitioner; a successful entrepreneur, and a genuine philanthropist... all at the same time!

Sri Varier studied Ayurveda under the classical Gurukula system. He also acquired proficiency in the practice of Allopathy

In late 1902, Sri Varier founded the Arya Vaidya Sala, Kottakkal, for the preparation of authentic Ayurvedic medicines. This famous Ayurveda Institute celebrated its one hundredth Anniversary in February 2002.
In 1933, in recognition of his valuable services to humanity, Sri P. S. Varier was conferred the distinguished title of 'Vaidyaratna' by His Excellency the Viceroy and Governor General of India.

Sri Varier expired in 1944. He had executed a Will prior to his demise, which converted his proprietary concern into a Charitable Trust of public nature, to be run by a Trust Board consisting of seven members who should be closely related to his family and the Institution. As per the provisions of its founder's Will, Arya Vaidya Sala functions as a Charitable Trust.

3. Dr. G.K.Warrier

Famous physician. Belonged to Harippad in the Alappuzha District of Kerala.Was a very efficient doctor at the Medical College Hospitals at Kottayam and Kozhikode. Famous for his diagonostic capabilities. Was a very able teacher of Medicine  also. Survived by wife Sudha Warrier, daughter Sulochana and son Parameswaran.

4. Sri Pandanattil Gopala Warrier

Famous astrologer, poet and author of Attakathas, desciple of Brahmasree Puliyoor Purushothaman Nampoothiri and Prof. P.U. Krishna warrier. Popularly known as Panchanga Ganitha Vidwan. Native of Pandanad near Chengannur in Alappuzha District of Kerala. Born in 1930.  In 1953, married Leelavathy, daughter of Jyothirganithacharyan Prof. P.U. Krishna Warrier, famous Mathematician and astrologer. He was well versed in Sanskrit. Awarded the degree of Jyothirganitha Pandithan from  Ayodhya Sanskrit Karyalaya. He was the person responsible for bringing out the Panchangam, published initially by the Malayala Rajyam and then by Chandra Press. Passed away in 1979 in a car accident. Survived by his wife, daughter, Kumari and son Harikumar.

Main works : Kerala Sambhavam Mahakavyam, Dhruva Charitham and Rakthaksha Vadham attakathas, Vandhya Vilapam Khanda kavyam, and many books on astrology like Prasna deepam, Navagrahaphalangal, Nithyapanchanga ganitham, Jathakabharanam Vyakyanam, Karmavipakam and Sugreevaprasnam.

5. Prof. N.Subramanya Warrier

Very efficient teacher of Chemistry. Principal of University College, Thiruvananthapuram.

6. Sri G. P. Warrier

Elder brother of Dr. G.K. Warrier, famous allopathy Doctor. Both of them hailed from Evoor, near Haripad. He was General Manager of the Central Railway and member of the Railway Board. He had become the Chairman, Railway Board, rising from the junior most level of Junior Engineer.

7. Unnayi Warrier

Famous poet and author of Attakathas. Lived between 1682 and 1759. According to another source, he lived between 1740 and 1812.  Native of Irinjalakuda near Thrissur in Kerala. Well versed in Sanskrit, Malayalam Lingusitics, Astrology and Logics. Main works : Ramapanchasathi ( a composition praising Lord Sree Rama), Girijakalyanam Kilippattu and Nalacharitham Attakatha. This last mentioned work is very famous all over Kerala and elsewhere. It is considered as one of the most elegant and beautiful work. It used to be played on four full nights.
Unnayi Warrier went to Thiruvananthapuram and stayed in the King's court for a few years. Contemporary of Kunchan Nambiar. The famous duels between these two stalwarts is famous ( Kari Kalakkia Kulam & Kalabham Kalakkiya Kulam etc).

8. Ramapurathu Warrier (1703 -1753)
Well known poet. Famous for his single work, Kuchela Vritham (Story of Kuchela, Lord Krishna's childhood friend). Born at Ramapuram in Meenachil Taluk in Kottayam District. Real name was probably Sankaran.Stayed for some time as a dependent of Vadakkumkur King at Vaikom. Then went to Thiruvanantha puram to serve in the court of King Marthanda Varma. Kuchela Vritham was probably written by him on the instance of this King. It was written along the lines of the famous Vanchi pattukal (Boat songs, usually sung by people during the boat races) of Kerala. Apart from this work, he also wrote an annotation on Amarakosam, Airavan Vadham Tullal Prabhatha Keerthanam.

9. Prof. N.V. Krishna Warrier
Renowned poet and Scholar.
Well versed in different languages. During Quit India movement, published a daily called Swathanthra Bharatham. Editor of Mathrubhoomi for a long time. Founder Director of Keral Bhasha Institue (1968). Editor of Kumkumam group of publications for some time. His contributions to Malayalam language range from poems, articles, drams, travelouge, attakathas, literary criticism etc. main works : Budhacharitham Attakatha, Kalotsavam, Neenda Kavithakal, Vidyapathi, Amerikkayiloode, Unarunna Uthara India.

10. Kaikulangara Rama Warrier (1832 - 1894)
Eminent Scholar. More than 40 works to his credit. Well versed in Astrology and Ayurveda. Wrote an elegant annotation for Ashtanga Hrudayam. Also for Varahamihira's Hora. Was President of the 1st meeting of the Bhashaposhini Sabha in 1892. Famous for his wisdom. It is said that he was able to throw a handfull of Manchadis up and count them before they reached the ground.

11. Ikkanda Warrier (1832 - 1894)

Renowned political leader. Born in Irinjalakkuda. First Chief Minister of Cochin State. Was an advocate by profession. He was a true Gandhian.
